Which AAC Apps Support ElevenLabs Voices?
Text-to-speech technology has come a long way. What began as stiff, mechanical speech now sounds strikingly human. At the center of that progress is ElevenLabs, a company using advanced AI voice modeling to produce artificial speech that can capture tone, pacing, and emotion with remarkable realism.
For people who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) apps or devices, these advances are especially meaningful. AAC is used by people who struggle with speech as a means of maintaining communication. Access to more natural-sounding voices helps make that communication feel more personal and expressive.
Below we'll take a look at all AAC apps currently supporting ElevenLabs features and what the support looks like for each.
Every AAC App with ElevenLabs Support
We found that Spoken, Predictable, Grid, and Speech Assistant are the only AAC apps currently supporting ElevenLabs voices. These apps have varying levels of support for ElevenLabs features. Below we cover the extent of their support, which platforms you can find each app on, and what stands out about their ElevenLabs integration.
Note: All of the listed apps require a valid API key before you can access ElevenLabs features. We have a tutorial for finding and creating an API key here.
Spoken - Tap to Talk AAC
Platforms:
ElevenLabs support:
- Access any voices you've saved to your elevenlabs.io library
- Create new voices with text prompts
- Clone your voice
- Switch between all available models
- Use audio tags (Exclusive to eleven_v3 model)
What stands out:
Spoken's flexible input methods (typing, drawing, handwriting) and predictive text make it the perfect match for expressive ElevenLabs voices.
The app's integration of ElevenLabs features is robust, allowing you to do much more than access your voice library. You can even create new voices without having to leave Spoken. This puts it ahead of any other AAC app in terms of the number of ElevenLabs features integrated. Plus, you can even try the experimental audio tags feature, which pairs excellently with AAC.
Predictable
Platforms:
ElevenLabs support:
- Access any voices you've saved to your elevenlabs.io library
What stands out:
Predictable is packed full of features. Combining all those with high-quality, expressive voices from ElevenLabs makes it a top pick for AAC users.
A nice quality-of-life feature available in Predictable is the “Download your Grid” option. This lets you automatically download ElevenLabs audio clips for every phrase on your board so that you can still use your ElevenLabs voice while offline.
Grid 3 / Grid for iPad
Platforms:
Windows (Grid 3), iPad OS (Grid for iPad)
ElevenLabs support:
- Access any voices you've saved to your elevenlabs.io library
- Switch between all available models
- Use audio tags (Exclusive to eleven_v3 model)
What stands out:
Grid is already a popular choice among AAC users, only improved by the addition of expressive ElevenLabs voices. Being able to pick between any ElevenLabs model means that you can find your own balance of speed and quality. Plus, you can switch to eleven_v3 to try the experimental audio tags feature. Again, audio tags pair excellently with any AAC.
Speech Assistant AAC
Platforms:
ElevenLabs support:
- Access any voices you've saved to your elevenlabs.io library
- Adjust voice stability and similarity under advanced settings
- Switch between eleven_turbo_v2_5 and eleven_multilingual_v2 for speed or performance
What stands out:
Speech Assistant is a lightweight and affordable option, now boosted by premium-sounding voice options.
One nice feature of Speech Assistant is that it will save audio from your ElevenLabs voices to buttons so you don't waste credits when repeating phrases. This will also allow you to use the voices offline to some extent. It's not quite as powerful as Predictable's “Download my Grid” option, which pre-loads every button with ElevenLabs audio clips, but it's still nice.
Do Proloquo2Go, TouchChat, TD Snap, Avaz, or CoughDrop support ElevenLabs?
As of October 2025, no official announcements have been made to confirm ElevenLabs features will be coming to these apps. We will keep an eye out for updates from AssistiveWare, Tobii Dynavox, PRC-Saltillo, and other developers so we can update this article if anything changes.
Confusingly, we did find that Cboard is listed as a partner of ElevenLabs, but the Cboard app does not appear to support ElevenLabs voices at this time. We could not find the option anywhere in-app and there does not appear to be any documentation mentioning ElevenLabs voices as a feature. We can only assume it will become an option in the near future.
What if the AAC app I use isn't listed?
If the AAC app you use isn't mentioned in this article, it probably hasn't integrated ElevenLabs features yet. However, if it's a smaller or more niche app, it's possible that the announcement simply flew under our radar. We suggest checking the developer's website or social media for updates, as well as recent release notes for the app.
If you want to see your favorite AAC app add ElevenLabs voices, contact your app's support team and ask whether it's on their development roadmap. Let them know it's something you're interested in. AAC developers can integrate ElevenLabs via its public API.
On the Cost and Limitations of Using ElevenLabs Features in AAC
Regardless of the AAC app you're using, you must have an account on elevenlabs.io before you can use any ElevenLabs features. A free account will grant you approximately 10 minutes of speech per month and you will be unable to create or use voice clones. For access to all features and a more reasonable amount of talk time, you must subscribe. Fortunately, users with diagnosed disabilities may be eligible for a free Pro subscription through ElevenLabs' Impact Program.
Try ElevenLabs in Your AAC
ElevenLabs voice support is expanding across AAC. Before long, you can expect it to be integrated into most major AAC apps. For now, you can find ElevenLabs integration in Spoken - Tap to Talk AAC, Predictable, Grid, and Speech Assistant. If ultra-realistic text-to-speech or voice cloning are a priority for you, start with one of these AAC apps.
